Can someone better help me understand these Geometry terms?
    9th/10th grade geometry:
    Initial Point
    Midpoint Formula
    Angle-Addition Postulate
    Protracter Postulate
    Distance Formula
Congruent (I know it means exactly the same, but in the textbook, it doesn’t give the definition without saying “congruent ________” space being angles, circles, figures, or segements. Does it have a definition without hacing a unit after?)

  2. Trollurtle says:

    Distance forumula is

    D=<|(x1 – x2)2+ (y1 – y2)2

    (x1, y1), (x2, y2)

    Mid point is pretty easy

    ex. (5, -5) (7, -3)

    5+7 , -5+(-3)
    —- ——-
    2 2

    12/2 , -8/2

    = (6, -4)

Your textbook is wrong, because even if sqrt(800) wasn’t the right answer, 4*sqrt(800) (the amount of rope you’d use if each side was sqrt(800) long) is still less than 120 (the amount of rope you’d use if it had width 20 and length 40.)

I did the same calculation using calculus, and got your answer.

    Math geometry grade 9 help!!!!?
Denzel wants to rope off a 800 cm squared rectangular swimming area using the beach as one of the sides. What should the dimensions of the rectangle be inorder to use the minimum amount of rope?…okay for this question i thought that you’d have to find the square root of 800 since a square has the smallest perimeter but my textbook’s answer is 20 by 40…if anyone can help ill be grateful but please explain hhow you found the answer and why you did what you did..thanks

How can I prepare for my math test?
I have a math test 2morrow (9th grade geometry) and I really don’t understand the information. The textbook doesn’t give enough information and the teachers notes weren’t helpful either because she didnt really give any notes. We did a few problems but I don’t even know the answers… the only bright thing is that I have a couple of hours to study for this… but where do i start and how can i study for it? btw there is no more extra help and the test is 2morrow

language arts – should start very early, like 2nd grade.. and continue through high school
    algebra- 3rd year h.s
    geometry – 2nd year h.s.
    science:
    1st year h.s. – science and technology
    2nd year h.s. – biology
    3rd year h.s. – chemistry
    4th year h.s. – physics

    history:
    1st year h.s. – phil. history
    2nd – asian history
    3rd – world history
4th – economics (i don’t know why, okay? this was my time.. ^^)

if your mom’s friend is very concerned she can ask the school to give her a copy of the curriculum. for public schools it’s standard but usually private schools have more liberty regarding the curricula of each year level, they can add some units if they feel like asking for more money but i think it’s illegal if they omit any of these…

hope i answered ur question.. (wheeew!)

Yes, you should skip geometry if you feel secure. Most of geometry such as basic trigonometry will be covered in Algebra 2, plus if you already studied geometry at home over the summer, taking the course again in school would only serve to be review.

Also, colleges will add extra points to students who skip grades to take more advanced material.

Keep in mind that it’s always good to challenge yourself as long as you don’t think you’ll be overwhelmed.

  8. SayWhat? says:

Should I skip Geometry and go to Algebra 2 if I already took the test to let me skip Geometry?
I studied over the summer with a Geometry textbook and everything. And then I went to take a test so that I could be approved to skip Geometry and go straight to Algebra 2 in 9th grade. a 90% was passing and I scored 92% on the exam. Do you think it would be wise to skip Geometry because I’m worried that if I skip Geometry, then it would hurt me in the long run when I take Calculus and Trig. It would save me time but I really don’t know. What do you think?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

poll: what kind of stuff have you learned in school during 7th, 8th, and 9th grade?
can you tell me what you’ve been learning at school for the following subjects, and if possible, what textbooks you are using? oh, and also, what grade you learned the stuff in.

    -language arts
    -algebra
    -geometry
    -science
    -geography
    -history
-anything else you’d like to add

haha no im not doing this out of curiosity. my mom’s friend is concerned about her daughter’s education, and wanted me to give her some advice.

    answer pleaseee!!!!!!

  10. teachmemath says:

Try to work the examples in the book. There should be problems that are fully worked out with all the steps if you get stuck.

Then try working problems that have the answers in the back of the book to see if you can get the right answers.

Google the title of the section to find websites that might better explain the material.

Post a few problems on yahoo answers and ask someone to explain the problem not just answer it.
