Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing some research on that. And he just bought me lunch because I found it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch!

Yep, as long as you pass the Praxis, it does not matter if "education" was your major or minor. And like someone else said, you will be guaranteed a job---there are very few math errors!
Good luck.  :)

1)
2x - 3y = 50  and  7x + 8y = -10

to solve this you need to solve for either x or y.

1st pick x or y to solve for (i will solve for y)

2nd make the x's "go away" by subtracting them.
to do this make the x's both the same value (i.e 5x and 5x).

(2x - 3y = 50)        and          (7x + 8y = -10)
7(2x - 3y = 50)      and         2(7x + 8y = -10)
14x - 21y = 350    and    14x + 16y = -20

now you need to combine them and make the x's go away by making one of them negative

-(14x - 21y = 350 )         ---------------->  -14x + 21y = -350

now combine them

-14x + 21y = -350
14x + 16y = -20
-----------------------------
0 + 37y = -370
y = -10
now that you have solved for y plug it into either of the first equations to solve for x

2x - (3(-10)) = 50
2x + 30 = 50
2x = 20
x = 10

the graphs intercept at the point (10,-10)

Will I be able to teach high school math with a math education minor?
I am majoring in chemical engineering, but I am deciding on whether or not I should minor in math or in math education. I am not planning on teaching math right away, but would like to think that the option is available. I know you have to get a teaching certificate...

Will you please help me understand this math? Addition and subtraction method....?
What do x and y equal? Please show your work so I understand the process. I am so confused so thanks to anyone who tries to help me understand! ♥

1) 2x - 3y = 50
    7x + 8y = -10

2) 5x + 6y = 16
    3x -  4y =   2

3) 3x + 2y = 14
    2x + 3y =   1

4) 2x + 3y = 10
    5x -  4y =  2

A really helpful book on basic physics to help me with concepts and basic math problems?
Like a beginner's book that shows how to work out problems and stuff. Basically a study guide. Are there any really good ones out there? Should I go with ap test study guides? Has a book really helped anyone else with physics?

What career opportunities are there for a degree in Math Education besides teaching?
I have a math education degree which is also the same as having a degree in mathematics. I just do not think I want to teach anymore and am maybe trying to work within a company, pretty much just work with other adults. I just have no idea what specific jobs there are out there for me. If anyone has any input that would be greatly appreciated!

can you help me with just a few short basic math problems?
1. simplify~ (one half divided by one third) + (one half) to the 2nd power. btw, those #'s in parenthesis are in actual parenthesis.

2. Divide; write a mixed numeral for answer- 8314 divided by 9.
3. divide & simplify~ 5 sixths divided by 8 thirds.
